I finally had the pleasure of submitting my NM2208 Principles of Visual Communication portfolio yesterday after laboriously working on it over the weekend. I managed to touch up my learning journal required for the module as well, and considering that there is no final exam, there’s pretty much nothing I can do about my grade for this module henceforth.
Suffice to say, I’ve managed to learn much about visual elements, gestalt principles, colour coordination and representation, not to mention the hands-on opportunities of designing various pieces for my assignments. However, I have to say that with this module being practically-intensive and the marks completely CA-focused, the design process has occasionally been less fun and exciting as it should be, and rushing assignments to meet their respective deadlines can at times be a burden.
With NM2208 Principles of Visual Communication out of the way, this leaves me just the other four modules to be concerned about, and they have indeed been a reasonable cause of worry, especially since I have three papers in a span of three days. The first paper is this Saturday, and something tells me that I really should be feeling a greater sense of urgency than I’m currently feeling now.
Revision for CS1102 Data Structures and Algorithms is currently my priority, as I haven’t really been able to keep up with the concepts covered in the second half of the semester. Thankfully, I scored pretty well for my mid-term test and I’m quite confident for my practical examination, but it’ll be best if I don’t have to depend on them to pull my grades up.
I’ve been watching UC Berkeley’s CS 61B: Data Structures lectures, and I’m happy to say that they’ve been useful in helping me recap certain topics. I also had the privilege of attending a revision lecture yesterday, where the instructor covered a few question from past year papers. I definitely need to get down to practicing questions myself, and with so much to cover in other modules as well, it’s going to be a challenging race against time.
